Since we are celebrating the region's 4th birthday. I decided to dig around in my archives and found a gem of some logs for when we were discussing the original Fort Triumph. The original Fort Triumph had a few different aspects and goals, such as a defender military and differently imagined government structure than the current Rules and Order of Fort Triumph, but the essence of the region has carried over into its current form. Within these logs you will find brainstorming on how the region will work, the origin of its name and much more.(for reference nsnobody is Deadeye Jack)
{Birth of Fort Triumph Logs} [8/8/2014 11:56:17 PM] *** Benevolent Thomas added nsnobody ***
[8/8/2014 11:56:19 PM] *** Benevolent Thomas added Land People ***
[8/8/2014 11:56:29 PM] Benevolent Thomas: Welcome to the region planning committee.
[8/8/2014 11:56:36 PM] Benevolent Thomas: I'll add Eist once he gives me his info
[8/8/2014 11:57:03 PM] nsnobody: hello I guess
[8/8/2014 11:57:17 PM] Benevolent Thomas: Nobody, can you give Land a rundown of what we discussed last night. I'm a few beers and drinks in right now
[8/8/2014 11:57:31 PM] nsnobody: ah sheesh
[8/8/2014 11:57:35 PM] nsnobody: which part
[8/8/2014 11:57:40 PM] nsnobody: the theme?
[8/8/2014 11:57:41 PM] Land People: howdy
[8/8/2014 11:57:41 PM] Benevolent Thomas: everything.
[8/8/2014 11:57:52 PM] nsnobody: I should have copied that down
[8/8/2014 11:58:02 PM] Benevolent Thomas: I was on my RL skype lol
[8/8/2014 11:58:05 PM] nsnobody: does land know the basic structure
[8/8/2014 11:58:08 PM] Benevolent Thomas: No.
[8/8/2014 11:58:30 PM] nsnobody: ok so I'll run down this fairly quick for the overview
[8/8/2014 11:58:33 PM] Benevolent Thomas: Other than he and Eist get to structure the defender org
[8/8/2014 11:59:07 PM] nsnobody: we were thinking of having a region where the govt power is dependent on WA
[8/8/2014 11:59:34 PM] nsnobody: so all of the WA members will make up a unicameral legislative body
[12:00:01 AM] nsnobody: and they are responsible for voting on most of the major regional things
[12:00:13 AM | Edited 12:00:29 AM] nsnobody: I believe we threw out the idea that the delegate is like a Prime Minister
[12:00:32 AM] Benevolent Thomas: I thought the WAD was going to be the mayor.
[12:00:39 AM] nsnobody: yes title wise
[12:00:42 AM] Benevolent Thomas: oh nvm lol
[12:00:46 AM] nsnobody: I'm just saying as an RL thing
[12:01:25 AM] Land People: so the WAD is separate/above the legislative body?
[12:01:40 AM] nsnobody: he's elected by it
[12:01:51 AM] nsnobody: basically
[12:02:00 AM] Benevolent Thomas: Like an elected executive
[12:02:36 AM] nsnobody: and what were some of the things you wanted the legislative to be in charge of BT?
[12:03:04 AM] Land People: ah right. so like all wa citizens = in the legislative body. then elections come around to elect the WAD + other roles from those members
[12:03:16 AM] Benevolent Thomas: bingo
[12:03:46 AM] nsnobody: basically you have to have a stake in the region to have influence in the direction
[12:04:08 AM] Benevolent Thomas: The legislative would basically steer the region. Approve embassies, vote on regional laws, ejections/bannings that sort of thing
[12:04:23 AM] nsnobody: we've discussed perhaps letting non-WA citizens kind of propose things
[12:04:34 AM] nsnobody: but they don't get an actual official vote
[12:04:40 AM] nsnobody: I don't know if we decided anything on hat
[12:04:46 AM] Benevolent Thomas: Kind of like an AoN Land
[12:05:34 AM] Land People: hmm, perhaps let them propose things so long as 1 or 2 full members sign on to it?
[12:05:50 AM] nsnobody: yes they can have some kind of quorom or something
[12:06:01 AM] Land People: and of course no obligations to do anything with anything proposed by non-members
[12:06:03 AM] nsnobody: we haven't ironed out the details on that front
[12:06:19 AM] nsnobody: I'm trying to think of what else we said
[12:06:25 AM] nsnobody: structurally
[12:06:58 AM] nsnobody: obviously culturally we will offer a variety of things. Spamming, organized spamming/games, RP and military gameplay
[12:08:05 AM] Land People: currency/shops?
[12:08:40 AM] nsnobody: now if we're talking about the theme of the region we've had some back and forth about it and we're tentatively leaning towards like a wild west theme. I've said that medieval fantasy has been done to death and I don't know of (m)any regions with such a theme
[12:09:12 AM] Benevolent Thomas: [12:08 AM] Land People:
<<< currency/shops?we havent decided that IIRC. Do you think its important for a region to have?
[12:09:28 AM] nsnobody: I'm not opposed to it
[12:09:40 AM] nsnobody: just not sure of the technicality of having the system
[12:09:57 AM] Land People: It's not necessary, but it adds something else to do. TSP (used to at elast) have a very good thing set up.
[12:10:03 AM] Benevolent Thomas: [12:09 AM] nsnobody:
<<< just not sure of the technicality of having the systemthe plugin on PB is back and is nearly flawless.
[12:10:18 AM] Benevolent Thomas: GRA brought back their economy too
[12:10:21 AM] nsnobody: that's cool then
[12:11:11 AM] nsnobody: You've explained XKI things to me before and it seems that there are at least some benefits to having the currency around
[12:11:21 AM] Benevolent Thomas: Now especially.
[12:11:24 AM] nsnobody: incentive to post and all
[12:11:31 AM] Benevolent Thomas: It was pretty fucking useless until about 3 weeks ago lol
[12:11:38 AM] nsnobody: plus you can make it for map features or whatever
[12:11:49 AM] nsnobody: that was in your original blueprint
[12:11:52 AM] Benevolent Thomas: yep
[12:11:55 AM] nsnobody: that you sentme
[12:12:21 AM] Benevolent Thomas: But I'm sure I can get pretty creative with the Wild West theme and the map.
[12:12:32 AM] nsnobody: speaking of the theme how do you feel about that Land
[12:12:38 AM] Benevolent Thomas: Set up homesteads and allow peope to build bigger and better homes and possibly even goldmines and the like
[12:12:55 AM] Benevolent Thomas: I swear he came up with the Wild west, not me
[12:12:57 AM] Land People: Wild West seems fine. It's certainly different.
[12:13:13 AM] nsnobody: you liked it! don't put it all on me
[12:13:36 AM] Benevolent Thomas: [12:13 AM] nsnobody:
<<< you liked it! don't put it all on meoh i definitely did
[12:13:42 AM] Benevolent Thomas: you proposed it and we ran with it together
[12:14:10 AM] Benevolent Thomas: [12:13 AM] nsnobody:
[12:14:36 AM] nsnobody: anyway have you told him about your wrinkle to defending?
[12:14:45 AM] nsnobody: or just kind of like an added bonus
[12:14:53 AM] Benevolent Thomas: hm?
[12:15:06 AM] nsnobody: the whole RP the missions after the fact
[12:15:11 AM] Benevolent Thomas: I havent
[12:15:19 AM] Land People: oh that sounds cool
[12:15:31 AM] Benevolent Thomas: I'll have to change it up now that we have a wild west theme
[12:15:38 AM] Benevolent Thomas: but I had legit juices flowing about it
[12:15:42 AM] nsnobody: the theme works for it though
[12:15:48 AM] nsnobody: just in a different way
[12:16:19 AM] nsnobody: it'd be like wrangling up a gang of good people to go deal with the outlaws bothering the people in the neighboring towns
[12:16:24 AM] Benevolent Thomas: Basically, the region aint going to be RP centric, but I'll RP our defender org's actions to rope in Roleplayers.
[12:16:46 AM | Edited 12:16:56 AM] nsnobody: and also have an RP section for whatever they want
[12:16:49 AM] Benevolent Thomas: ofc
[12:17:01 AM] Land People: makes it more interesting for those who can't make update too
[12:17:35 AM] nsnobody: I thought it was a cool idea
[12:18:34 AM] nsnobody: anyway so applying the theme to the structure, we're like an incorporated town known for mining or railroad, and the citizens have bought shares (WA). We have like town hall meetings for the laws and our head is the Mayor
[12:19:20 AM] nsnobody: then you can have sherriffs, saloons, and so on
[12:19:47 AM | Edited 12:19:51 AM] Benevolent Thomas: The Sallon will basically be our gaming and spamming area.
[12:20:29 AM] nsnobody: ugh I can't think of what else we said
[12:20:42 AM] nsnobody: the courts/gallows would be the legal proceedings
[12:22:08 AM] Land People: with the mining or railroad thing; could there be like a goal the entire region is working towards?
[12:22:38 AM] Benevolent Thomas: We could totally do that
[12:22:51 AM] Land People: like....building tracks from a to b; or reaching x production. I'm not really sure, but something that we would all have to work together to achieve
[12:23:07 AM] Benevolent Thomas: We could even have the election/transition period be the time when we move the town further down the railroad tracks
[12:23:29 AM] Benevolent Thomas: Or we could do map expansions that way.
[12:23:40 AM] nsnobody: yeah that's totally something we could do
[12:23:41 AM] Benevolent Thomas: when we reach a goal, cool shit happens and we RP it as rail progress
[12:23:58 AM] nsnobody: it seems like if we have a currency and are miners it's a logical fit that your posts are mining
[12:24:39 AM] Benevolent Thomas: this will lend towards us using Proboards. I'm not sure if ZB's economies are that great.
[12:24:46 AM] Benevolent Thomas: Not a problem, just letting you know.
[12:24:57 AM] nsnobody: anything is better than invisionfree
[12:24:58 AM] nsnobody: haha
[12:25:20 AM] Benevolent Thomas: so true
[12:26:33 AM] nsnobody: we
[12:26:45 AM] nsnobody: are trying are to think of a name for our wild west town
[12:27:53 AM] nsnobody: I'd be interested in the defender org structure but I don't know how much you've hashed out of that
[12:28:05 AM] nsnobody: I'm only a passive observer of military gameplay
[12:28:59 AM | Edited 12:29:32 AM] Benevolent Thomas: so far I've mused that Eist would be the head and Land and I starting out as Officers.
[12:29:07 AM] Benevolent Thomas: Depending on who we pick up, that may change.
[12:29:37 AM] nsnobody: well I ain't much in the field but it seems like 4 of us could be active enough to attract more even outside of recruiting
[12:29:58 AM] Benevolent Thomas: 4 updaters would wreck most other orgs.
[12:30:47 AM] Benevolent Thomas: If we give chase at the start, we'll pick up noobs as well thinking we do stuff while others do not.
[12:31:00 AM] nsnobody: for the mean time at least I'd be available for both updates on most days but that is subject to change
[12:31:07 AM] Benevolent Thomas: The 4 of us would aslo be competent. Very dangerous for invaders.
[12:31:57 AM] Land People: 4 would be enough in most cases
[12:32:20 AM] Benevolent Thomas: Recruiting shouldn't be too difficult.
[12:32:30 AM] Benevolent Thomas: Especially if we RP our shit. It'll attact people.
[12:32:36 AM] nsnobody: hehe
[12:32:40 AM] Benevolent Thomas: Most orgs are rather passive about recruiting new members
[12:32:51 AM] nsnobody: plus I'm a pretty dedicated manual recruiter
[12:33:02 AM] Benevolent Thomas: They'll recruit for the region, but then not pursue getting those people to join their org
[12:34:16 AM] nsnobody: I feel pretty good about the basic framework we have so far although obviously I'd love to hear Eist's take
[12:34:36 AM] Land People: script + manual for recruiting?
[12:34:53 AM] Benevolent Thomas: I cant code
[12:34:57 AM] Benevolent Thomas: I could stamp though
[12:35:09 AM] nsnobody: haha if I could code I wouldn't need to manually recruit
[12:35:20 AM] Benevolent Thomas: I got a big job the 1st weekend of september. I could easily use some of that money.
[12:35:39 AM] Benevolent Thomas: Shiz is also working on his own Accelerator with my input.
[12:35:42 AM] Land People: hm, some of the public scripts should still work
[12:35:46 AM] Benevolent Thomas: I can get us our own verison of it likely.
[12:37:45 AM] Benevolent Thomas: Manual recruiting has the edge atm as some API and Stamp recruits dont come in until hours/days later.
[12:38:05 AM | Edited 12:38:13 AM] Benevolent Thomas: Barely any manual recruiters and the rotating system allows for greatest return on investment
[12:40:20 AM] nsnobody: anyway I'm not too worried about putting in the time to recruit just never actually seen what recruiting is like personally at the start of a region
[12:40:38 AM] Benevolent Thomas: it likely sucks ass at first lol
[12:41:17 AM] Benevolent Thomas: brb
[12:42:25 AM] nsnobody: also it seems like in the beginning it is going to be somewhat difficult if our times of activity aren't somewhat staggered. People could get bored
[12:42:34 AM] nsnobody: hopefully we don't all live in the same timezone
[12:43:00 AM] Benevolent Thomas: back
[12:43:21 AM] Benevolent Thomas: Yourself, Eist and I live in the same timezone
[12:43:34 AM] Benevolent Thomas: Land lives in Australia
[12:43:46 AM] nsnobody: ok
[12:43:46 AM] Land People: Yep...so I half overlap with you guys
[12:43:58 AM] Benevolent Thomas: Land's got us covered while we sleep
[12:44:24 AM] Benevolent Thomas: and I spend a lot of time on the computer lol
[12:44:31 AM] nsnobody: me as well
[12:47:50 AM] nsnobody: so anyway if Eist agrees to the basic framework we can start laying things out in more detail
[12:48:18 AM] nsnobody: other than that is there anything else you want to talk about right now
[12:48:41 AM] Benevolent Thomas: yeah
[12:48:42 AM] Benevolent Thomas: We need a name!
[12:49:02 AM] nsnobody: well we don't know if he likes the theme yet!
[12:49:10 AM] nsnobody: but I guess we can brainstorm
[12:49:16 AM] Benevolent Thomas: Eist won't care.
[12:49:29 AM] Benevolent Thomas: He just wants to defend.
[12:51:27 AM] nsnobody: the most common names would have like creek or gulch or canyon in the name
[12:51:34 AM] nsnobody: that's kind of cookie cutter
[12:51:54 AM] nsnobody: there are plenty of names of old west towns that don't follow that formula though
[12:52:31 AM] Benevolent Thomas: indeed.
[12:52:34 AM] nsnobody: Tombstone, Deadwood, Dodge for example
[12:52:48 AM] Land People: the good the bad the ugly and the other one?
[1:03:08 AM] nsnobody: the only thing I really request is for us to make defending fun
[1:03:33 AM] Benevolent Thomas: [1:03 AM] nsnobody:
<<< the only thing I really request is for us to make defending funI can do that.
[1:04:29 AM] Benevolent Thomas: We're the type to take a WZ if an update gets boring. But being unleased... I can make it a lot more fun.
[1:04:43 AM] Benevolent Thomas: If my connection is good enough, we could spend the entire update in a call just shit talking
[1:05:02 AM] nsnobody: well you know how much I love skype calls
[1:05:02 AM] Benevolent Thomas: tounge and cheek with invaders in the neutral discussion thread.
[1:05:43 AM] nsnobody: anyway we got sidetracked from the name...
[1:06:08 AM] Benevolent Thomas: I wish there was a common NS term that we could incorporate into the name.
[1:06:18 AM] Benevolent Thomas: but there aint
[1:06:29 AM] Benevolent Thomas: I spent like an hour last night trying to think of one
[1:06:49 AM] Land People: like "nations"?
[1:07:12 AM] nsnobody: Trigger something
[1:07:21 AM] nsnobody: that's westernish
[1:07:46 AM] Benevolent Thomas: I dunno like I thought we could take like a NS unique term and use it to be kind of cute with the theme haha
[1:08:09 AM] nsnobody: Trigger in r/d
[1:09:03 AM] Benevolent Thomas: yeah
[1:09:29 AM] nsnobody: what other terms are there
[1:10:30 AM] Benevolent Thomas: Well all sorts really: puppets, maxtopia, violet, deat, dump, sleeper...
[1:10:43 AM] Benevolent Thomas: none that I could spin into a cool sounding western town
[1:10:45 AM] Benevolent Thomas: so scrap the idea.
[1:11:28 AM] nsnobody: ok
[1:11:49 AM] nsnobody: so to narrow down this brainstorming session do we want the name to be more ominous/mysterious
[1:11:57 AM] nsnobody: like Tombstone or Deadwood
[1:12:11 AM] Benevolent Thomas: something more welcoming I think
[1:12:13 AM] nsnobody: or more functionally descriptive
[1:12:30 AM] nsnobody: I think there has to be a middle ground somewhere
[1:13:04 AM] Land People: something that shows we're the good guys (or neutral guys)
[1:19:06 AM] nsnobody: a lot of old west towns have like one word religious or ideal themed names
[1:19:11 AM] nsnobody: Like Independence
[1:19:15 AM] nsnobody: or Redemption
[1:19:27 AM] Benevolent Thomas: Defiance.
[1:19:27 AM] Benevolent Thomas: lol
[1:19:44 AM] nsnobody: right
[1:19:51 AM] Benevolent Thomas: another cool name taken by a TV show.
[1:20:09 AM] Benevolent Thomas: a rather shitty show might I add.
[1:21:49 AM] nsnobody: so you could try to think of words that fit that theme
[1:22:13 AM] Benevolent Thomas: Redemption is pretty cool
[1:22:52 AM] nsnobody: you can kind of RP around the title
[1:23:03 AM] nsnobody: you came out to the town looking for a new start
[1:23:10 AM] nsnobody: yada yada
[1:23:11 AM] Benevolent Thomas: true
[1:23:22 AM] Benevolent Thomas: but invaders could come asaying they want redemption lol
[1:24:03 AM] Benevolent Thomas: give me a min. I feel rather inspired right now
[1:24:47 AM] Benevolent Thomas: Rapture possibly?
[1:25:21 AM] Benevolent Thomas: maybe not lol
[1:25:22 AM] Land People: isn't that the end of the world?
[1:25:28 AM] Benevolent Thomas: yeah haha
[1:25:44 AM] nsnobody: it is also synonymous with ectasy though
[1:26:09 AM] nsnobody: I was also thinking something like Judgement although that is a bit ominous
[1:28:53 AM] Benevolent Thomas: Salvage doesnt really work...
[1:29:06 AM] nsnobody: Salvation
[1:29:20 AM] Benevolent Thomas: Deliverance
[1:29:26 AM] nsnobody: lol
[1:30:23 AM] Benevolent Thomas: Sovereignty
[1:30:33 AM] Benevolent Thomas: Absolution is taken
[1:31:11 AM] Benevolent Thomas: Vindication
[1:32:26 AM] nsnobody: there are some pretty good ones that have been said
[1:32:35 AM] nsnobody: we can keep thinking though
[1:32:41 AM] nsnobody: I'm going to have to bow out now though
[1:32:54 AM] nsnobody: I actually have to get up early tomorrow
[1:33:03 AM] Benevolent Thomas: me too
[1:33:10 AM] Benevolent Thomas: I got to be in Palm Coast by 8
[1:33:26 AM] nsnobody: (wave)
[1:33:30 AM] Land People: g'night
[8/9/2014 6:53:19 PM] Benevolent Thomas: Land just logged on if you got further ideas
[8/9/2014 6:54:04 PM] nsnobody: I ain't got nothing new
[8/9/2014 7:02:28 PM] nsnobody: although I was thinking about whatever name we come up with has to lend itself to a good defender org name
[8/9/2014 8:22:11 PM] nsnobody: I'm trying to think what else we might be missing about the region
[8/9/2014 8:24:49 PM] nsnobody: I like the idea of having different people running different parts of the culture
[8/9/2014 8:24:58 PM] nsnobody: and you build towards certain goals in each section
[8/9/2014 8:25:24 PM] nsnobody: they would be like minister positions overseeing things
[8/9/2014 8:25:45 PM] nsnobody: self competition to run the best part of the culture
[8/9/2014 8:27:52 PM] Benevolent Thomas: that may be a little too ambitious.
[8/9/2014 8:28:09 PM] nsnobody: at the beginning probably
[8/9/2014 8:28:15 PM] Benevolent Thomas: If we divided culture up amongst several people, there may even bee too little for each of them to do.
[8/9/2014 8:28:49 PM] nsnobody: I'm talking like the saloon, RP, and military gameplay
[8/9/2014 8:29:01 PM] Benevolent Thomas: oh
[8/9/2014 8:29:12 PM] nsnobody: and the competition isn't between the communities of each one
[8/9/2014 8:29:15 PM] nsnobody: but the leaders
[8/9/2014 8:29:18 PM] nsnobody: sorta
[8/9/2014 8:29:23 PM] nsnobody: but like a friendly competition
[8/9/2014 8:29:30 PM] Benevolent Thomas: you know what is cool?
[8/9/2014 8:29:42 PM] Benevolent Thomas: In PB v5 you can actually set player salaries.
[8/9/2014 8:29:55 PM] nsnobody: that's cool
[8/9/2014 8:29:59 PM] Benevolent Thomas: We could actually have people competing for such cultural jobs if they paid.
[8/9/2014 8:30:31 PM] nsnobody: we should definitely have at least 1 big event per month
[8/9/2014 8:30:36 PM] Benevolent Thomas: definitely
[8/9/2014 8:30:43 PM] nsnobody: that ranges across multiple areas of the culture
[8/9/2014 8:31:08 PM] Benevolent Thomas: depends on how long they run for really.
[8/9/2014 8:31:22 PM] nsnobody: well like EV one month
[8/9/2014 8:31:32 PM] Benevolent Thomas: oh, yeah. That can totally work
[8/9/2014 8:31:34 PM] nsnobody: WW another month
[8/9/2014 8:31:40 PM] nsnobody: some RP tournament another month
[8/9/2014 8:31:57 PM] Benevolent Thomas: it would make big deals out of all events rather than them overlapping one another
[8/9/2014 8:32:08 PM] nsnobody: yeah but still have minor things to do all the time
[8/9/2014 8:32:13 PM] Benevolent Thomas: ofc
[8/9/2014 8:32:38 PM] nsnobody: we could also create incentives for people to get involved in every area
[8/9/2014 8:32:44 PM] nsnobody: with a special award
[8/9/2014 8:33:15 PM] Benevolent Thomas: We can give out forum awards and the like for the victors of these events.
[8/9/2014 8:33:32 PM] Benevolent Thomas: or special buttons to display in their signature until the next contest of that type begins
[8/9/2014 8:33:33 PM] nsnobody: like oh you were on 5 successful defense missions, participated in a few RPs and were a good spammer
[8/9/2014 8:33:35 PM] nsnobody: awards!
[8/9/2014 8:33:47 PM] Benevolent Thomas: yeah, that's totally doable.
[8/9/2014 8:33:51 PM] nsnobody: yeah that idea works too Thomas
[8/9/2014 8:34:14 PM] Benevolent Thomas: We do that in 10KI. Its one of the things I helped to bring back
[8/9/2014 8:35:12 PM] nsnobody: little badges and more titles and shit
[8/9/2014 8:35:16 PM] nsnobody: people eat that up if it's fun
[8/9/2014 8:38:23 PM] Benevolent Thomas: I'm not saying we do exactly that, but those award you get are featured in your forum profile.
[8/9/2014 8:38:36 PM] Benevolent Thomas: We can make custom awards for all sorts of shit that people can strive to earn.
[8/9/2014 8:47:39 PM] Benevolent Thomas: We'd need someone to design all of them though
[8/9/2014 8:48:31 PM] nsnobody: yeah lol
[8/9/2014 8:57:06 PM] nsnobody: anyway for the region I think now we just have to get down to the nitty gritty details
[8/9/2014 8:57:08 PM] nsnobody: and get a name
[8/9/2014 8:57:22 PM] nsnobody: I think we have plenty of good ideas now we have to set up the structures
[8/9/2014 8:57:58 PM] nsnobody: write a constitution, develop the military manifesto or whatever the hell it is gameplay orgs do in their secret forums
[8/9/2014 8:58:32 PM] Benevolent Thomas: idea.
[8/9/2014 8:58:38 PM] Benevolent Thomas: I could actually give defenders a salary.
[8/9/2014 8:58:44 PM] Benevolent Thomas: increased incentive to defend
[8/9/2014 8:59:07 PM] nsnobody: eh but I wouldn't right now
[8/9/2014 8:59:22 PM] nsnobody: we'll see how things play out
[8/9/2014 8:59:37 PM] nsnobody: we might not need to pay anything
[8/9/2014 8:59:40 PM] Benevolent Thomas: true
[8/9/2014 8:59:43 PM] nsnobody: save it for desperate measures
[8/9/2014 9:00:11 PM] nsnobody: but it's also what the reward/award system is for
[8/9/2014 9:00:25 PM] Benevolent Thomas: right
[8/9/2014 9:00:37 PM] Benevolent Thomas: and we'll have like promotions and shit imaginibly
[8/9/2014 9:00:55 PM] nsnobody: plus if we're lucky we'll have entirely new players adding to us
[8/9/2014 9:01:06 PM] nsnobody: not just getting other players from other orgs
[8/9/2014 9:01:12 PM nsnobody: it's better to mold a group imo
[8/9/2014 9:01:19 PM] Benevolent Thomas: of course it is
[8/9/2014 9:03:48 PM] nsnobody: so we need a name so we can reserve it and start creating a forum and constituion
[8/9/2014 9:04:09 PM] Benevolent Thomas: I think I like Redemption
[8/9/2014 9:04:37 PM] Benevolent Thomas: www.nationstates.net/region=redemption
[8/9/2014 9:04:44 PM] Benevolent Thomas: there just a problem with that though
[8/9/2014 9:04:45 PM] nsnobody: what would the military org's name be
[8/9/2014 9:04:48 PM] nsnobody: lol
[8/9/2014 9:05:07 PM] Benevolent Thomas: we can name the org later really haha
[8/9/2014 9:05:45 PM] nsnobody: yeah but it should go off of the region name maybe
[8/9/2014 9:05:52 PM] nsnobody: or it could be something different
[8/9/2014 9:06:14 PM] nsnobody: so we can't use redemption
[8/9/2014 9:06:29 PM] nsnobody: because their asshole guy is keeping it alive
[8/9/2014 9:06:44 PM] nsnobody: you'd have to add like flats, creek, canyon, gulch
[8/9/2014 9:06:45 PM] nsnobody: etc
[8/9/2014 9:07:00 PM] Benevolent Thomas: nah. Redemption would have to be a stand alone imo
[8/9/2014 9:07:14 PM] nsnobody: well we need some backups
[8/9/2014 9:07:25 PM] nsnobody: it's highly unlikely we can get this name
[8/9/2014 9:07:38 PM] Benevolent Thomas: yeah
[8/9/2014 9:07:57 PM] Benevolent Thomas: I just know that lightining will strike soon.
[8/9/2014 9:08:03 PM] Benevolent Thomas: I can feel it in my nutsack
[8/9/2014 9:11:47 PM] nsnobody: personally I like the ominous sounding names
[8/9/2014 9:11:53 PM] nsnobody: but land wants a name that shows we're good
[8/9/2014 9:13:13 PM] nsnobody: you know how places are named to attract settlers
[8/9/2014 9:13:14 PM] Benevolent Thomas: think of some dark ones as well. A good name is a good name and he knows it
[8/9/2014 9:13:23 PM] nsnobody: what if you said like Prosperity
[8/9/2014 9:14:03 PM] Benevolent Thomas: I like the word Prosperity. But its kind of a dumb name for a region lol
[8/9/2014 9:14:20 PM] nsnobody: Salvation Creek
[8/9/2014 9:14:30 PM] nsnobody: found water survived
[8/9/2014 9:14:34 PM] nsnobody: then found gold
[8/9/2014 9:14:35 PM] nsnobody: boom
[8/9/2014 9:14:36 PM] nsnobody: haha
[8/9/2014 9:18:18 PM] Benevolent Thomas: we also have to come up with the name of the rail company that we'd be working for.
[8/9/2014 9:18:28 PM] Benevolent Thomas: the founder can be named after it.
[8/9/2014 9:18:58 PM] nsnobody: sheeit
[8/9/2014 9:19:20 PM] Benevolent Thomas: that will be easier to name though
[8/9/2014 9:20:23 PM] nsnobody: I'm trying to look up western movies for name ideas
[8/9/2014 9:23:16 PM] Benevolent Thomas: once I'm done with my endorsement spree, I'll hit up the thesorus for synonyms to Determination. Maybe there's a gem to be found there
[8/9/2014 9:24:30 PM] nsnobody: Fortitude
[8/9/2014 9:24:32 PM] nsnobody: Valor
[8/9/2014 9:24:47 PM] Benevolent Thomas: Valor might be cool
[8/9/2014 9:25:04 PM] nsnobody: doesn't really have a distinctly Western vibe though
[8/9/2014 9:25:09 PM] nsnobody: I kind of worry about that
[8/9/2014 9:25:21 PM] Benevolent Thomas: right
[8/9/2014 9:25:22 PM] nsnobody: with these one word names
[8/9/2014 9:25:37 PM] nsnobody: we want people to know that we have a western theme when they see the name
[8/9/2014 9:25:45 PM] Benevolent Thomas: yeah, we should try combining them with gultch/creek/ext
[8/9/2014 9:28:59 PM] Benevolent Thomas: paradise/oasis | flats/creek/canyon/gulch
[8/9/2014 9:58:30 PM] nsnobody: examples.yourdictionary.com/examples-of-abstract-nouns.html
[8/9/2014 10:00:17 PM] nsnobody: maybe one of those catches your eye
[8/9/2014 10:00:34 PM] nsnobody: or it can serve as a jumping off point for thesaurizing
[8/9/2014 10:00:59 PM | Edited 10:01:05 PM] Benevolent Thomas: [Saturday, August 09, 2014 9:11 PM] nsnobody:
<<< personally I like the ominous sounding namesif you have good names in this catagory, feel free to suggest them.
[8/9/2014 10:01:39 PM] nsnobody: names like Tombstone or Deadwood
[8/9/2014 10:01:55 PM] nsnobody: but my mind hasn't been thinking of more original ones
[8/9/2014 10:14:32 PM] nsnobody: Haha Big Whiskey, Wyoming
[8/9/2014 10:14:37 PM] nsnobody: a town in Unforgiven
[8/9/2014 10:14:53 PM] Benevolent Thomas: oh gawd haha
[8/9/2014 10:17:46 PM] nsnobody: Tumbleweed
[8/9/2014 10:18:17 PM] nsnobody: something about the region can have tumbleweeds
[8/9/2014 10:18:20 PM] nsnobody: maybe a flag
[8/9/2014 10:21:13 PM] Benevolent Thomas: Haven maybe
[8/9/2014 10:21:42 PM] Benevolent Thomas: nvm I kow too many regions with haven in the name
[8/9/2014 10:22:07 PM] nsnobody: I'm looking at red dead redemption wikis to see what they named their towns
[8/9/2014 10:22:13 PM] nsnobody: never played the game
[8/9/2014 10:22:29 PM] Benevolent Thomas: I'm looking at the name of settings from the show Firefly lol
[8/9/2014 10:24:01 PM] Benevolent Thomas: Triumph
[8/9/2014 10:24:30 PM] Benevolent Thomas: Maybe a Triumph Gorge
[8/9/2014 10:24:37 PM] nsnobody: hmm I like it
[8/9/2014 10:25:33 PM] Benevolent Thomas: Constance
[8/9/2014 10:25:42 PM] nsnobody: maybe not gorge
[8/9/2014 10:25:47 PM] nsnobody: but I like Triumph
[8/9/2014 10:25:48 PM] Benevolent Thomas: lol Deadwood is used here too
[8/9/2014 10:26:19 PM] Benevolent Thomas: Harvest
[8/9/2014 10:27:26 PM] Benevolent Thomas: Silverhold
[8/9/2014 10:28:01 PM] Benevolent Thomas: Shadow
[8/9/2014 10:38:57 PM] Benevolent Thomas: Triumph Falls doesnt really work for a western, but I like the name.
[8/9/2014 10:39:40 PM] nsnobody: well if it was a town near a river it works
[8/9/2014 10:39:50 PM] nsnobody: near a canyon
[8/9/2014 10:39:57 PM] nsnobody: or whatever
[8/9/2014 10:40:14 PM] Benevolent Thomas: Triumph Springs as well
[8/9/2014 10:47:14 PM] nsnobody: Junction, Crossing, Valley, Ridge, Creek, Gulch, Flat, Canyon, Falls, Gorge, Springs, Point, Fort
[8/9/2014 10:52:40 PM] Benevolent Thomas: Fort Triumph?
[8/9/2014 10:52:46 PM] nsnobody: just about to type that
[8/9/2014 10:52:54 PM] Benevolent Thomas: (cool)
[8/9/2014 10:55:55 PM] Benevolent Thomas: I'm really liking this name
[8/9/2014 10:56:39 PM] nsnobody: so what would be the backstory of this town
[8/9/2014 10:56:54 PM] nsnobody: used to be a military outpost but was abandoned
[8/9/2014 10:57:18 PM] nsnobody: the railroad company then rebuilt it for their line
[8/9/2014 10:57:24 PM] Benevolent Thomas: I like it
[8/9/2014 10:58:55 PM] Benevolent Thomas: It could be like a junction where multiple rails meet. then you wouldn't necessarily have to have the town move constantly.
[8/9/2014 10:59:04 PM] Benevolent Thomas: like a St Loius or whatever
[8/9/2014 10:59:34 PM] nsnobody: could work
[8/9/2014 10:59:59 PM] Benevolent Thomas: now to name the rial company
[8/9/2014 11:00:15 PM] Benevolent Thomas: rail*
[8/9/2014 11:03:14 PM] nsnobody: so basically we had our start as a railway town
[8/9/2014 11:03:31 PM] nsnobody: but then were successful enough to have sticking power
[8/9/2014 11:03:39 PM] nsnobody: howso
[8/9/2014 11:03:55 PM] nsnobody: we'd have to have developed some industry
[8/9/2014 11:04:06 PM] Benevolent Thomas: well if multiple rails intersected here, we'd be a trade hub for the entire west.
[8/9/2014 11:04:16 PM] Benevolent Thomas: could also be mines nearby
[8/9/2014 11:04:54 PM] Benevolent Thomas: this'll also make a map possible
[8/9/2014 11:05:01 PM] nsnobody: yeah mines
[8/9/2014 11:05:04 PM] nsnobody: and tourism
[8/9/2014 11:05:13 PM] nsnobody: we are a debauched group that people have to visit
[8/9/2014 11:05:15 PM] nsnobody: haha
[8/9/2014 11:05:25 PM] nsnobody: in their travels on down the line
[8/9/2014 11:05:37 PM] Benevolent Thomas: we could have a casino that brings in people
[8/9/2014 11:06:47 PM] nsnobody: yeah any successful town that was able to go from a town created as a railhead to a town that flourished into more has diversified economies
[8/9/2014 11:06:57 PM] nsnobody: at least for the west
[8/9/2014 11:07:02 PM] Benevolent Thomas: right
[8/9/2014 11:07:41 PM] Benevolent Thomas: We dont even have to name the founder after a rail company anymore.
[8/9/2014 11:08:03 PM] Benevolent Thomas: It could just be Fort Triumph or Fort Triumph Town Charter.
[8/9/2014 11:08:08 PM] Benevolent Thomas: something administrative.
[8/9/2014 11:09:15 PM] Benevolent Thomas: or we could still do the rail company as the founder. it does add a little flavor
[8/9/2014 11:09:53 PM] nsnobody: yeah
[8/9/2014 11:09:57 PM] nsnobody: so a railroad name
[8/9/2014 11:15:20 PM] nsnobody: Everytime we get an embassy it would be like a new railroad line coming through
[8/9/2014 11:15:38 PM] Benevolent Thomas: ...that's fucking awsome
[8/9/2014 11:15:51 PM] nsnobody: I love this fucking theme
[8/9/2014 11:16:05 PM] Benevolent Thomas: its just so... creative.
[8/9/2014 11:16:36 PM] Benevolent Thomas: lol. one of our first laws should be to outlaw John Wayne avatars (rofl)
[8/9/2014 11:16:48 PM] nsnobody: lol
[8/9/2014 11:17:02 PM] Benevolent Thomas: oh and guess what?
[8/9/2014 11:17:07 PM] Benevolent Thomas: You know a casino...
[8/9/2014 11:17:11 PM] Benevolent Thomas: there's a plugin for that
[8/9/2014 11:17:24 PM] nsnobody: sexy
[8/9/2014 11:17:44 PM] Benevolent Thomas: I think we will blow minds.
[8/9/2014 11:17:57 PM] nsnobody: I already have an erection
[8/9/2014 11:18:02 PM] Benevolent Thomas: we're taking all the good we've seen in region and putting our own spin on it.
[8/9/2014 11:18:26 PM] Benevolent Thomas: Not necessarily anything revolutionarily new, but if we can pack so much goodness into a place.
[8/9/2014 11:18:34 PM] Benevolent Thomas: with such a unique theme
[8/9/2014 11:18:50 PM] nsnobody: I'm psyched for this
[8/9/2014 11:19:14 PM] nsnobody: but a railroad company name
[8/9/2014 11:19:15 PM] nsnobody: hmm
[8/9/2014 11:19:24 PM] nsnobody: we can't use american geographic markers
[8/9/2014 11:19:29 PM] Benevolent Thomas: I'm going to put like $20 aside for superkeys
[8/9/2014 11:19:43 PM] Benevolent Thomas: [Saturday, August 09, 2014 11:19 PM] nsnobody:
<<< we can't use american geographic markershow about NS ones? Like feeders
[8/9/2014 11:20:40 PM] nsnobody: I was thinking about it but using NS landmarks is how we're probably going to name our embassy rail lines
[8/9/2014 11:20:53 PM] Benevolent Thomas: true, true
[8/9/2014 11:27:19 PM] nsnobody: what are superkeys
[8/9/2014 11:27:47 PM] Benevolent Thomas: Union Pacific is like really the only old west railroad I know and it helps absolutely 0 haha
[8/9/2014 11:27:59 PM] Benevolent Thomas: [Saturday, August 09, 2014 11:27 PM] nsnobody:
<<< what are superkeysmassive forum additions.
[8/9/2014 11:28:30 PM] Benevolent Thomas: think of plugins as features and superkeys like expansions.
[8/9/2014 11:28:38 PM] nsnobody: ok
[8/9/2014 11:28:50 PM] Benevolent Thomas: $20 will me way more than enough
[8/9/2014 11:29:06 PM] Benevolent Thomas: It'll likely be less than $10 worth we'll use if that.
[8/9/2014 11:30:21 PM] nsnobody: I suppose we could name the railroad after like a river or an animal
[8/9/2014 11:30:23 PM] nsnobody: or something
[8/9/2014 11:35:23 PM] Benevolent Thomas: Trans Continental Railroad is RL too as well ain't it?
[8/9/2014 11:37:01 PM] nsnobody: yeah
[8/9/2014 11:40:39 PM] Benevolent Thomas: god this is going to be so awsome
[8/9/2014 11:47:15 PM] Benevolent Thomas: we've made major progress over the last 3 nights
[8/9/2014 11:50:22 PM] nsnobody: regardless of how we relay the information we should really modify your region idea doc
[8/9/2014 11:50:30 PM] nsnobody: so that we don't forget things we've talked about
[8/9/2014 11:50:34 PM] nsnobody: and certain ideas
[8/9/2014 11:50:42 PM] Benevolent Thomas: going to have to make a completely new one
[8/9/2014 11:50:47 PM] nsnobody: that's fine
[8/9/2014 11:52:41 PM] Benevolent Thomas: I guess I can work on that now.
[8/9/2014 11:52:47 PM] Benevolent Thomas: But we need a rail name haha
[8/9/2014 11:52:55 PM] nsnobody: hmm
[8/9/2014 11:53:47 PM] nsnobody: Destination West Railroad Company
[8/9/2014 11:53:52 PM] nsnobody: sounds like an airline
[8/9/2014 11:53:55 PM] nsnobody: haha
[8/9/2014 11:54:01 PM] Benevolent Thomas: yeah haha
[8/9/2014 11:54:52 PM] nsnobody: Western Metals Railroad Company
[8/9/2014 11:55:06 PM] nsnobody: maybe they were a rail line that looked for mining opportunities
[8/9/2014 11:55:34 PM] Benevolent Thomas: I dont think thats how that worked lol
[8/9/2014 11:55:35 PM] nsnobody: my creative juices aren't flowing right now
[8/9/2014 11:56:55 PM] Benevolent Thomas: I'm actually going to work on the convos 1st.
[8/9/2014 11:57:08 PM] Benevolent Thomas: I dont feel like working that hard on writing out the region idea right now
[8/9/2014 11:57:20 PM] nsnobody: whatever
[8/9/2014 11:57:29 PM] nsnobody: I've pretty much checked out for the night
Also you can use this thread to ask questions about what things were like for the region and some of its important past events.
